These are some diagnosis tests that your doctor might perform:

  1. X-Rays, CT scans, MRI scans, or Myelograms. This will be useful in pinpointing broken bones or other skeletal defects.
  2. Bone densitometry. This test measures the density as well as the strength of the bones. Your doctor might want to make sure that your spines themselves are alright.
  3. EMG/NCV. EMG stands for Electro-myelogram and NCV stands for nerve conduction velocity. They are useful to determine if there is neural problem or not.
  4. Blood and urine test. This is to make sure that the pain is not due to an infection or other systemic type of problem.
  5. Ultrasound study. This will tell if you lower back pain is coming from kidney stone or not.
